How is the required final exam grade calculated?
Formula: Required Score = (Target Grade − Current Grade × Current Weight%) ÷ Final Exam Weight%. Example: current 78%, final is 30% of grade, target 80%: (80 − 78×0.70) ÷ 0.30 = (80 − 54.6) ÷ 0.30 = 84.7%.
What if the required grade is over 100%?
If the calculation returns over 100%, the target grade is mathematically impossible to achieve even with a perfect exam score. At this point, focus on the highest grade still achievable or speak with your professor about extra credit options.
