What is the difference between markup and margin?
Markup % = profit ÷ cost × 100. Margin % = profit ÷ selling price × 100. A 50% markup on a $10 item = $15 price = 33.3% margin. Always clarify which metric someone means.
What markup should I use for Etsy?
For digital products: aim for 80%+ margin (infinite markup since cost is near zero). For print-on-demand: base price is production cost — 2x to 3x markup is typical.
